Dr. Koga lead a study testing a new MRI software which he helped refine to improve the accuracy of navigation during complex brain procedures. Ten neurosurgeons participated in the study reviewing tumor cases with varying degrees of brain swelling. They were asked to compare standard MRI tractography reconstructions to the new technique developed by Synaptive Medical Inc (Toronto, CA). The study helped improved the software which is capable of showing brain white matter tracts affected by edema.
